Joe Maika was the sole Team Whistler rider to rider the E. V. Spring Series Criterium April 11th. After being unable to keep up with the blistering pace of the B's, Joe was dropped. Things turned for him in the Time Trial when he finished in 17:30 even after some last minute equipment adjustments which cut his warm up short. Todd Allison joined Joe in the TT and finished in 18:04, a personal best for him by over 30 seconds on the 12km out and back course.
In a break between major races, Will Routley and Shani Laxton also raced this local event. Racing in the A category, Will placed 5th in the Criterium and was 2nd in the Time Trial only 2 seconds off the pace with a time of 14:20. Shani finished the Time Trial in 18:13.
Watch for Tony, Will and Shani in the final Spring Series race April 12th, the Road Race.
Next week there will be racing both days with Sunday offering up the fun rolling Bradner Rd course one of the longest and fastest courses of the series. We look forward to a good Team Whistler showing and are praying for good weather. Remember, keep the rubber side down.
